40 S&W Lead bullets
A friend gave me around 150 or so 155gr lead bullets , he got rid of his 40 and had them laying around .
Anyone have a starting load for them using Win 231 ?
Just gonna use them for plinking rounds .
None of my manuals have load data for any lead bullets , I'll be shooting them out of a Smith 4006 .

Very happy with it , also have a 9 in their mod 5906 . I fire the 9 alot more than the 40 , a few buddies say they are too heavy , but I like the balance of the two pistols .0 -
reloader44mag , that data worked out well , loaded 20 rounds and they all fired and functioned well .
Turned out there were just shy of 200 rounds , but 5.5 / 5.6 grs of 231 worked just dandy . Thank Ya Kindly .0 -
I'm glad the load worked for ya. 0 -
Lyman reloading manuals have carried cast bullet load data for most cartriges for as long as I can remember. The only problem I ever had with cast bullets in an auto pistol was with a Styer GB, a gas retarded blowback 9MM, the lead residue plugged up the gas port cylinder after about 500 rds. 0
