    Hello,

    Your Model 06 is one of the parts clean-up rifles that Winchester assembled between 1933 - 1942. Regular production of the Model 1906/06 ceased at the end of 1932 when Winchester introduced the Model 62 as a replacement for both the Models 1890/90 and 1906/06. Up through the year 1932, the Models 1890 and 1906 were serialized in their own separate number sequence. Shortly after the introduction of the Model 62 in January of 1933, Winchester began assembling Model 90s and 06s from remaining parts on hand (which amounted to at least 60,000 more guns). These parts clean-up rifles share the same serial number sequence, and they do not have the typical "A" (model 90) or the "B" (model 06) serial suffix stamped on the barrel assembly. Serial numbers are known to be as high as 854,000. Based on your rifle's serial number range (801,000), my guess is that it was assembled in the 1937/38 time frame.

    The overall condition of the rifle is very poor (it grades as 0%) due to a badly executed reblue, and the stocks having suffered a very harsh sanding. As a result, it has very little intrinsic value.

    Hey Bert,

    It looks like it is in the white with almost no blue left. How can you tell it was reblued?

    this shooter is not blued it appears to be nickle plated all over, please take a closer look at the pictures. i also think the orginal butt stock was broken and someone made a replacement, look close at the fitting around the tang.

    All of the stamped markings show strong evidence of being polished as there is clear fading and depth differences in the lettering and numerals. Additionally, all of the screw holes are dished (another sign of having been polished).

    It has had all of the original bluing polished off of it. The butt stock may or may not be original, but it appears to have been sanded harshly.
