Colt Commando WWII/Target model alteration

I've heard that this was a common alteration in the late '40's to the 60's as WWII vintage Commandos could be had for little $ and most saw only holster wear stateside. Mine is one of these. It has an Officer's Match Colt 5" barrel and the frame has been milled and tapped for an adjustable rear sight. This could be cleaned/trued up a bit but the "bent tin painted" rear leaf has to go. Does anyone have some pictures of sight types or info on sights that would work better (Python,Diamondback)? Too bad mine has been cut as it's 99%. Got the original barrel too and a mint vintage fleece lined shoulder holster for $175 so can spend more $ to improve. Great shooter,very accurate.

    Will a standard Trooper or Officers Model sight fit the milled recess? Perhaps a Millett could be used.

    There is a difference in the frame on the Commando. It's just like an "Official Police" There is more metal(square hump?) at the rear of the top strap on both the Trooper and the Officer's Match/Target. My Commando has no metal left at the hammer end to install the slotted rear that was used on Match/Target.
    Trooper sight would work by milling a square groove in the top strap to fit the elevation tongue and screw only if the Commando top strap is strong enough. Ditto Millet rear sight. Both of these moves would cover the 2 screw holes there now. Hoping for some pictures. Thanks for your input.
