winchester rifle

I am looking at a rifle that is part of a limited series offered by Davidson's. It is rolled mark to be a 45-90 black powder . Is this truly black powder only or could one use smokeless powder. The barrel seems as heavy as one they have that was stamped as a 45-70.

    I would run and ad in the local news papers around the area where the company was locate. People in that area might have bought one.

    My bet is that it was not Winchester who made them for the Echelin Manufacaturing Co.

    In the era you speak of, it was relatively common for companies or corporations to buy several hundred plain jane Model 94 Carbines from Winchester, then send them out to a different company to have them gussied up and a special name or medallion put on them.

    Winchester made Commemorative Model 94s, but they did not produce any "Special Edition" guns. Dodge, Chevy, Coca Cola, Ducks Unlimited, etc., are known to have had "special edition" guns made up outside of the Winchester factory.
