I've worked on a couple of Glocks that had been assembled without the recoil spring assembly. Sounds like you have a similar problem.

Remove the slide innards by removing the slide cover plate. You have to release pressure on the firing pin through the bottom of the slide to get the cover plate off though. Once your able to get the innards out hopefully you will be able to separate the slide from the frame.

rufe just watched a video of that, am going over to his house to give it a try, thanks for the info.

guys it wouldn't work. the slide wont go forward enough to come off the rear ears. somehow he got it all put back together right except he missed the two front ears, the slide is riding on top of them instead of in the groove inside the slide where they are supposed to be, the rear ears are in the groove. any more ideas??

Put it in a pot of boiling water. That will soften the frame up enough to bend it any way you want. It should come aprt then.

I've had one in this condition handed to me too. My recollection is I was able to diassemble it like normal, only with a little more force. If the striker is cocked, pull the trigger like normal. Pull down on the release as you normally would and pull the slide off. It might require and extra hand, but I think it should come off.

[:)] Well, it's mid-March; so, I guess any damage has already been done. If, in the future, anyone should have this problem again, do this: Take a firm grip on the slide ('Hand-Over-Top' is fine.) Give the frame's backstrap a real good whack with the flat of your hand. It'll let go.

Saw that a few times as an armorer, just tap the slide with a rubber mallet, it will come off.

It'll come off like normal. Just pull the trigger and tap it off.
