Tumbler died
My tumbler died yesterday. After customer service closed(of course_, and is closed on Friday. I'll see how it turns out on Monday, 2 years old.
Hopefully they will take care of it. Then I'll tell the make. Any equip can fail, good equipment is backed up by manufacturer.

Check the wires going to the motor. Mine have broken on several occasions from the vibration. 0 -

If it isn't fixable, check out the models from Berry's Manufacturing. Mine has lasted 20 years - so far. GREAT company to deal with, too.

I had one from Midway that quit after only a few months. I took the bottom cover off and found that a set screw on the motor vibrator shaft had come loose and things went downhill from there, causing the motor to freeze up. I sent them a picture and Midway replaced the entire unit very quickly without question. 0 -
I've had about 6 of the Midway junkers. I keep sending the failed one back and they keep sending another that lasts between 2 hours and 6 months. I finally decided I had as much in returns shipping as a good unit costs so I quit shipping them back. I set the failure aside until someone is going to Columbia and it only costs $1 worth of gas to run them out to Midway. I bought a big Lyman and it's a great outfit. 0 -
how long do you run your tumbler nonstop? my dad always told me "they" had problems with tumblers catching on fire and said not to even leave it plugged in. i'm using the same tumbler he's had for years and i've ran thousands of thousands of rounds of brass through it. Just wondering if there was any truth to this... i run mine overnight alot 0 -
Mine was green unit, had it 2 years. Ran overnight when used, but haven't used it a whole lot. Shipped back to RCBS on my dime, that sucks. Well see what the final verdict is. I don't think it was a loose wire, it made a grinding sound and didn't shake. 0 -

I happen to buy a lyman vibrator hull polisher that came in a t-mag reloading kit about 14 years ago and I did not think it would last anytime when I looked in the bottom and seen the little Impedance protected, C-Frame type motor! The polisher is still running today, just like the energizer bunny, it won't quit! I've polished everything with this rig and no problems!
Impedance protected motor is a electrical term for motor of the type that if stalled and not turning they WILL NOT OVERHEAT, etc! Can be left with the locked non-turning rotor and no damage to anything!
I use a electrical timer with my polisher so as I can set the number of hours that I want it to run the batch!
If I were replacing it though I would probably take a good look at RCBS or Hornady due to the warrentys and good customer service and support from RCBS!
Lyman kinda SUCKS BIG AIR majority of the time on their customer support and poor customer support will not keep me as a returning customer for anything!0 -
