New York State gun law question.
If I purchase a muzzleloader from out of state does N.Y. law require it be shipped to an FFL in N.Y.S. (not N.Y.C.)? Thanks for your help.

Adironduck,
It all depends on what type of muzzleloader it is. If it is one that can transform into a cartridge rifle, then yes, it does require being transfereed to a FFL dealer. If it is like a TC Omega, Triumph, Hawken or something like that, no, but a Knight KP1, TC Encore, and some of the Rossi's, CVA's, and Traditions I believe can be changed to a center fire rifle.

The above responses are correct. However, you did not indicate whether it is a muzzleloading longarm or a handgun.
Both are legal to be shipped to you if they are traditional flintlocks or percussion firearms as described above. HOWEVER, if it is a handgun, it is illegal to possess it either loaded or with all of the components necessary for firing unless it is registered on a NY State handgun permit.0 -
