Here is an antique double barrel musket? percussion cap? I believe it's from France...

Maker: F.P. Devimes (?), St. Etienne, France

[B)] Promised Spider no more tourist guns! eh, for the day that is.

Know any details? How much is this worth? Comments are greatly appreciated.

    Well, it's a shotgun and not a musket, which is a single-barrel military longarm.

    Are there any markings or proofmarks on it? You may have to look on the underside of the barrels for proofs.

    BTW: What's that chunk of wood in the last pic? Another tourist souvenir? [;)]

    roflmao!!! hell, i thought it was part of the gun thing. yeeesh. I'm a peace hippy [8D] subjecting myself now to watching this episode from Lock n' Load upon rsnyder's advise.

    I am not an expert but to me it looks like a Husqvarna other than the trigger guard I would have said a model 15 with that engraving

    Well, it's definitely French with St. Etienne proofs but I don't have any information on FP Devimes other than he was a gunmaker in France. Maybe someone else will have a book as to when he plied his trade. I'm guessing it was made around the 1870's to 1880's but, hopefully, another member will be able to provide more details for you.

    Thanks you guys! your time is much appreciated. I'll keep trying here. I believe we found it listed in 1998 antique gun book, going for $7,000- 10,000+.

    It's an under-lever breech loading shotgun, not a percussion. And if you're thinking 1618 is a date, it's not, it probably dates from 1870s at earliest.

    It's an under-lever breech loading shotgun, not a percussion. And if you're thinking 1618 is a date, it's not, it probably dates from 1870s at earliest.

    That shotgun is garden variety Frebch gun. It was made at the turn of the 20th Century and it is considered a low grade wall hanger and would be valued accordingly.
