JC Higgins .22 Rifle Jamming

I have an old Sears JC Higgins .22 semi-auto rifle and the disocnnector assembly keeps breaking. I have located the replacement part on line but was wondering if anyone knows what would be causing the breaking. I have had it to a gunsmith a couple of times and it was supposedly repaired but it just breaks against the first time out for shoot.

    Is the rifle simi auto, bolt, lever its hard to help if you don't give enough information. The disconnecter on simi autos are for stopping the rifle from doubling or firing full auto. With out knowing who manufactured the rifle and model it will be hard to help you. One place to start at is to find the manufacture, look on Numrich at the Model number of the Higgins rifle and cross over and it will give you the manufacture and their part number, post the manufacture model and you may get a good response.
