300 whisper

Where can I look for more info on the 300 whisper? I heard there is a 500 whisper out too. Has any one shot one or both of the rounds? If so did you like them?

    I'm thinking about having my bolt rifle re-barreled to 300 whisper. Does anyone have experience with this cartridge?

    IMHO, worthless unless you use a suppressor full time.

    I love my two.
    They are suppressed and good out to 150 yds.
    More with a good rangefinder.

    As stated unless you are planning on running a silencer it does not really make sense to have one.

    I have one built on an AR platform. They can keep MOA accuracy out to 300 yards but you really have to know your distances. There is roughly 9' of drop at 300 yards.

    Just to show there isn't much new under the sun in ammunition, an obsolete caliber 32WSL, the forerunner of the 30 Carbine fired a relatively heavy 30 cal bullet at low speed. It was supersonic but an underpowered dog with a short life. It was superseded by the 351WSL and 401WSL that were better but not great big game cartridges.
    If you look up Whisper cartridges you will find a series of larger calibers, i.e. 45 & 50 calibers having more serious energy at subsonic velocities.

    fun and cost effective to shoot; heavy bullets mimick 45 acp power levels, lighter bullets mimick 357 maximum power levels; keep in mind all with bullets that are more ballistic "efficient" and cruise a flight path that is considerably flatter that the previously mentioned rounds - out to reasonable distances of course. can be a 50/100 yard tack driver out of a pistol length barrel if you and your loading do your part, and a fun way to burn up a lot of ammo in an AR platform (with heavier hitting bullets mind you)too. its origin was very purpose intentive, and that remains the same today - but you can load it to do many more things. very easy on recoil for beginner shooters, and plenty of knockdown. and in a state where legal (not in my state), and with a fast twist barrel to help accuracy, I am sure a lot of fun with a supressor.
