Older Mossberg Bolt Shotguns - Rifled barrels?

Does (or more likely did) anyone make a rifled barrel for any of the older 100, 200, 300, and 400 series bolt action shotguns? Are the barrels even detachable? If yes to both, what are my options? I think these would make a cool slug gun.

If not Mossberg, did Stevens or Savage? I know that Savage, Marlin, Mossberg, and Browning all have "modern" bolt slug guns, but they don't interest me, or more importantly, my wallet. It seems I can pick up an old Mossberg bolt for around $100.

I am also thinking of getting one for my Dad as a gift. He always talks about his old poly-choke 16ga Mossberg whenever we talk guns. Plus the weight looks to be pretty low, so a beater would make a good squirrel gun. What are your thoughts on the guns overall, any problems to look for?

    I am not sure if any 695's were rifled. I have never seen the older bolts rifled. I suppose it would be possible but probably not worth having it done custom.

    695's had a recall might want to check into that. The biggest complaint I have heard about an older mossberg bolt was they kick more so then other because of the lack of weight.

    695s came in at least two flavors. One (like the one you linked to)was a slug model with a black synthetic stock and rifled ported barrel, meant for sabot slugs. Felt like a nice gun. I handled one when I worked at Dick's. The other I know of was a turkey model with a smoothbore barrel with some type of choke.

    Do the older bolt action shotguns have screw-in barrels?

    Sabots tend to group better, especially with the tighter action/barrel attachment of a bolt action.
