black plastic stock and slim tappered barrel without any sights?

It'd make a solid hunting gun, and thats a good price.. Maybe pick a better scope for it from Burris or leupold and your set.

Good solid basic, accurate, reliable gun. Get a better scope! Burris Bullistic Plex Fullfield II.

I bought mine used on gunbroker for $200+ shipping and ffl fee, last month. It was synthetic and someone had tried to paint the stock camo on it. I removed the paint and put a burris fullfield 3-9x40 scope on it. I sighted it in at 100 yards with some old reloads for a Rem 700 I had. It shoot right at an inch and a quarter. I am currently load testing it and have already (first set of loads H414) found a load with 165 gr. hornady btsp that shoots .944 group. I am increasing that load, as that was about the middle of the road and the group SHOULD tighten up a little bit more. Look on the auction side and you will find a good deal. Look for one that might take a little work and you will get a good deal. NOBODY wants to take a camo paint job off a gun, but it really isn't that hard and it will save you a good chunk of change.

Currently wholesale on these is higher than that. But remember you're buying a Walmart grade rifle. Does it have the Accu-trigger? If not it's a $300 gun.

What makes it a "Wal-Mart" grade rifle?

A Wal-Mart grade rifle or shotgun is usually produced on the cheaper side. It may have a cheap grade stock on it, pressed or no checkering, cheaper made parts, etc, anything to get it produced in the price range that Wal-mart wants to sell it in. It may shoot just as good as a higher priced gun but not look as good or hold value as good.
