50 gr. Sierra spt. w/37.5 gr. Varget or 60 Hornady spire w/35.5 gr. IMR4064. Both loads shoot well in my TC Icon. I don't mean to offend, but please refer to .22/.250 CARTRIDGES--shells are for shotguns and artillery.

How about rounds? I don't like cartridges.

I use 35.4 gr of IMR 4064 with Sierra 55gr HPBTs or Hornady 55gr VMAX. Both shoot 1/2" to 3/4" at 100 yards consistantly in my rifle.

These loads are 1/2 gr under max so you can certainly tone it down for getting it on paper before load work up.

I am using 35.5 grains of 4064 or 40 grains of H414 behind a Sierra 55 gr PSP. Both are very accurate.

Honestly guys......are there ANY inaccurate loads for the 22-250?[:)]

Everything I have tried has been accurate. Just some are better than others.

Yes there are. I had a 50 gr Vmax load this rifle wouldnt hit a pizza box with. It is a remington 788 and it has been pretty picky. I want to shoot 50 grain, but I fear I am going to have to drop to 45.

    Sorry....maybe it's the rifle[?]

Of the five or six I've been around or owned, they all shot well with anything! Lucky maybe.

My 22-250 loads were with WW760 - meters better than 4064 and somewhere I read it was, maybe, same as H414. 50 and 55 gr pills shot very well. Anyway, rechambered the last one to 22BR so I could see the bullets hit.
I once had a Remington Mod. 78 22-250 that wouldn't group under 2". As a last resort, tried mag primers and it tightened them up to 3/4". Never used mag primers before or since, but it sure made a difference on that one.

What do you use to remove the copper fouling?

Of the three I have owned, they have all been very picky about what they will shoot. I think it is because Remington used a 1:14 twist.

I use Butch's bore shine. I was looking at the Montana Extreme today.
