Question for P.muerrle or Bert H

First thanks for the info. on the books a while back info was very helpful . now as you worked in the custom shop at winchester.
i think you said there was records of what went in and came out of the shop. i got a letter from cody on my 1873 32 wcf .i would like
more info. if it is possible to see if it was nickeled at the factory.the letter says rifle,cal.32 barrel octagon plain trigger.
went in the warehouse may 23,1893 shiped may 25 1893 order number 19019 serial 454530B .is there any way to do any checking through
the custom records. any info. would be greatly appreciated.

    I think you are confusing the Custom Shop records with general factory records. The Custom Shop was not formally established until 1960. They would not have dealt with 1873s and they didn't do any plating there.

    Hello David,

    If your Model 1873 had been factory nickel plated, it would have been listed as such on the factory lettter you received from Cody. The fact that the letter does not mention nickel plating "trim", very strongly points towards it being a non-factory alteration.
