Need a Smith Experts help
I have two older smith and wesson revolvers. I would like to know the value and the dates of manufacture of these weapons. The blued one is a model 15- 3 and the serial is K9266**. The nickel one is a model 19-3 and the serial is 7k93**. I have included picts if I can get them to load..

Brant, both of those guns look to be in excellent condition. The model 15 was made in the last half of 1969 and the model 19 in 1975. Neither have a target hammer or target trigger, but thats not a big deal. Both have pinned barrels, which is desirable.
The model 15 has magnum style grips, not original to that model. The nickel finish on the 19 increases its value slightly. The Blue book lists the model 15 in 98% cond at $400 and the model 19 in 98% at $395.0 -

Joe, when I got the model 15 it had hogue rubber grips. I dont like that type of grips on a revolver, so I picked the magnum grips up for $50.00. I have $400. in the model 15. I bought the model 19 from the same guy but it looks like I over payed because I gave him $500.00 for it. Thank you for your time and appraisal looks like I will burry these in the safe with my snake collection. 0 -
Brant, Actually those mag grips on the 15 are more desirable in my opinion. Those BB values I listed are just that. I think both guns could bring slightly more than those values, especially the nickel model 19. It could bring $500 to $550.
Speaking of "snake collections". I have a bunch of Pythons and Diamondbacks and Cobras but still need to add a Boa, Anaconda, Combat Cobra and Viper to round out the family. Gotta love those snakes.0 -
A few points.
First of all the large checkered wood grips that used to come standard on Smith magnum revolvers are called the "target" grips.
I'm not saying that makes sense. . .that's just how it is.
The "magna" grips (which have been discontinued for years) are smaller with a narrow top. See here for more discussion on this (scroll down):

In terms of prices, despite what the blue book says, in the real world, nickel models 19-3 in great shape are selling for $450-500, and more is possible (especially if the gun comes with original box and papers). While they are not exactly scarce, pinned and recessed nickel K-frame Smiths are becoming increasingly collectible.
I know, because I'm still kicking myself for not having bought one (exactly like the one in the picture) a few years ago for a good bit less. Also, I just bought a 6" nickel 19-4 for $350, and its probably in 75% shape; nowhere NEAR the excellent condition of the one in the picture, and I was happy to get it.

You have the model 15 listed as a "combat commander", thats not correct. Also, that Wincheter 94 with a buy now of $1500 is way too high, just my humble opinion. 0 -
You are right I am such a colt nut I screwed up.. I think you had better do your home work on the winchester the last one I seen sell brought 2200.00. This is a super rare gun less than 100 that were signed.. 0 -

I hope you get what you are asking for the Winchester, its been my experience that commemoratives are tough to move. Good luck with your auction, I will keep an eye on it to see where it goes.0 -
