I just realized that may you have something there. Maybe not as collectable as you are being told by whatever source. But, I had not thought of certain stores being big enough to order their own 'grade' or version of a grade. Just a kind of preferred customer thing. It might take graders a few days to sort say 1000-2000 stocks for an upgrade. This was usually done by a large independent store like you described in Ohio. The store pays a small premium for the wood but they get a lot more for the same (grade) rifle you would buy at a K-mart or Wal-mart. All those two stores ever wanted to do was make good rifles as cheap (cheaply made) as possible. Probably a good way to differentiate them from the cheapest made.
