Tikka / Ithaca 12-70 222 Rem Over and Under ????
Hey Guys:
I'm getting this one from my grandfather. I remember it has Ithaca on one side, and Tikka on the other. The 12 guage is on the top, and the 222 Remington is on the bottom. It appears to have an extra full choke (marked by x). It looks to have interchangeable chokes as well. It has a ventilated ribbed barrel with a folding rear sight. I can't wait to pick it up. I used it hunting when I was young. It is an over and under. It is marked as a Tikka made in Finland. I don't know much about it or its history or value, and you guys have been on the money so far. The wood was beautiful at one time.

IIRC, this is the same gun as a Valmet, or even the Savage 2400, but imported by Ithica. 0 -
Congratulations! You are getting a quality firearm that just might be the best combination turkey gun ever made. Value will vary greatly, depending on condition,of course. My local shop has four for sale as he once collected them. He has them priced from between $750 and $1,200. I recently bought a used one (about 85%) for $550. Since yours is coming from a family member, it will be priceless and a gun to care for and keep your entire lifetime. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine. 0 -
One of the best all around guns ever made. Scope it up and you will be amazed at its accuracy. 0 -
Thanks guys
I get it this afternoon. I haven't hunted with it since I was a kid. Killed my first turkey with it. I thought I had it set on the 12 guage, and I had it on the 222. Perfect shot though, right in the neck. Only here, for the first time, have I EVER admitted it was an accident. This is one I would never part with. I would love to know where I could find chokes for it.0 -

I'm pretty sure that someone had those tubes installed, your grandfathers gun would not have come from the factory with tubes (unless he bought a more recently). post a photo of the choke tube and maybe we can ID it.0 -
Hey Guys:
Here are a few pics. Any ideas on the choke tubes??? Let me know. He said he bought it new, and never had any work done to it. The choke tube has never been out.
