Ruger M77 Mark II 300 WSM

I have a Ruger M77 Mark II 300 WSM with a Bushnell Banner scope. I would like to sell this gun in order to buy a Glock 21 SF with a couple accessories but I do not know what this rifle is worth. It has had maybe 20-25 rounds put through it, just enough to site it in. Other than that it has just sat in its case. If anyone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

    I would estimate $650 to $700 tops.

    650 to 700 may be a bit high. Discount the scope, which adds nothing, and check the auction side for what similar rifles have sold for.

    The closest thing I have found on the auctions is a M77 Mark II .270 with no scope, $600

    I have been watching a number of Ruger Hawkeye M77s on various websites and at Cabela's. Keep in mind that just because something is priced at $XX, does not mean that it will sell at $XX.

    I have seen many of these in desirable cartridges, including WSMs, 7mm Remington Magnum, 300 Winchester Magnum, and 25-06, as well as 30-06, 270, etc., priced around $600, but they do not seem to be moving much. The same retailers list them for $594, $550, etc., for months, and months, and even years. And, these are NIB. This indicates to me that actual transaction prices are probably closer to $500, if not a little below.

    From my perspective, and it is just one perspective: These rifles need trigger work, bedding work, and free-floating work, and perhaps a good muzzle crown, to make them shoot reliably and consistently. So, to make it a good shooter, buy it for say, $450 and add $150 or $200 to tune it up, and make it the rifle that Ruger should have made it coming out of its factory.

    This is one of the main reasons that Ruger's MSRP of $800 plus will not hold as an actual transaction price, in most cases. No accuracy guarantees, erratic accuracy reputation, pathetic lawyer triggers, etc. Other than that, excellent action, nice walnut stock with a classy metal grip cap, good three position safety, rings included, etc. Yes, there is a lot to like here. But accuracy, trigger, etc???

    Used gun ? It would be on my rack for $499.. The scope isnt worth much at all..
