Rust on my gun! Nooo!

    Storing it in the soft case is what caused the rust. Given your high humidity it trapped moisture inside the case with the rifle.

    It doesn't sound like the rust is very advanced. To remove the rust use a course rag like and a good quality oil like Rem-oil and rub it off. I've had good results using a scrap of burlap in place of the rag. For the stuborn spots use #0000 steel wool with a very lite hand.

    Right on! And get one of those golden rods or whatever they are called to act as a dehumidifier since it's so humid around there. How long since the last time it was out?

    That is a good reason to get them out about once a month and oil and inspect them.

    I agree with above but have gone to using CLP, it is a cleaner and preservative. I now use that for all but the bore.
