changing bolt face question

How much should I expect to pay to have a smith change a bolt face of a savage model 110 in a 243 to 300 wsm? Thank you.

  I think midway sells the bolt face with lugs, for all calibers.

  I think Savage uses a different action rail dimension for the short mags. Possibly a different barrel shank diameter also. I don't mess with the short mags so don't know for sure but just changing the bolt head might not ensure a proper functioning conversion.

  It will be tough to get it to feed..... If you decide to do it, it shouldn't run more than $45.00 to open it up and ship it back...

  Savage found that they needed to use a larger thread tenon for the WSM cartridges. You might want to consult them before spending your money.
