Change a Scope Reticle?

I bought a Nikon 4.5-14x40 Coyote Special and have found the reticle is a serious PITA to work with.
Does anybody know of a shop that could replace the reticle with a standard 3 wire BDC reticle calibrated for 223?

    I don't know if Nikon will change the reticle, but Leupold will for a small fee!!

    I've already heard back from Nikon. As I understood their reply, they don't even repair their own product. They farm it out to "authorized repair centers".

    I was hoping someone here could recomend a shop where they had had something like this done.

    Most places aren't going to change the reticle on a $300 scope. Sell the scope and buy a new one.

    What seems to be the major problem with the scope? I've been looking at one and just wondered what the downside is.

    The 100 yard reticle circle substends 3.5" at 100 and there's no precise aiming point within the reticle circle. Shots falling 1/2" to 3/4" apart during sight in didn't give me a whole lot of confidence in the reticle. I even tried turning the power down untill it just covered the inner points of the target sighting blocks and still had shots walking around.

    maybe nikon will swap it out for there pro staff model.. the circle in that one has 1st a cross hair @100yrds.. then circles for further distances

    Yup, that's the reticle Mr Gee. Except my scope is the 4.5-14x40.
    On my scope that 100 yard circle substends 3.5" My original plan had been to place bright colored 9" discs at 100, 200 and 300 yards and then zoom in to fill the circle and then mark the zoom ring for that specific range. This would have eliminated my need for a laser range finder.

    I don't think Nikon would be interested in trading up for me.
    You see, I had to choose between camo'ing the rifle or blacking the scope. One fart smeller heh[:I] Well at least it wasn't a Swaro.
