COLT PYTHON 357MAG.

Royal blue finnish, 4" barrel, checkered wood grips, very light cyclinder ring. This gun comes out of a collection and looks new, no scratches or dings. Did'nt get the serial number but believe it was manf, in the 80's. Been fired very few times, I know the owner. I've searched the auctions and the prices are all over the place. I can get this on for $550.00. Would this be a good deal. Any help, thanks.

    COULD SOMEONE TELL MEWHAT A COLT PYTHON 357 MAG WOULD BE WORTH THESE DAYS? It's in great condition, according to colt it was made in 1978, has a 6 in. barrel and spring loaded rear sigts.

    Your definition of "great" may or may not be close to mine. Also, alterations & accessories make a difference. It would be best if you posted photos; at least some of them should be close enough that we can read the writing on the gun.

    Or, you can do a Smart Search (top of home page) on COMPLETED AUCTIONS & see the prices paid for guns in similar condition.

    Depends on whether its blued steel or another finish, and condition. Also depends on whether or not you have the original box and/or other accessories.

    "Great" is not a term usually used to evaluate gun condition.

    But I'll say if your gun is in 95% condition or greater, its probably not worth LESS than $800.

    We've sold about a dozen used Pythons over the past 2 years. Highest price realized was $1800 for a Nickel plated piece with 2.5" barrel. Average prices for 6" blue in V. Good to Excellent condition range from around $1200 to $1400. We have several collectors who we call as soon as one shows up and one or the other come in and pay those prices. This is a gun shop in Eastern PA. Prices at regional gunshows are about the same for the same condition pieces.

    I have a 1981 colt that is new in the box never fired since leaving the factory. The one I have is e nickel and I have taken it to the last three gun shows in Kentucky aking 1500. I have got various offer anywhere from 1100 to 1400 but I like the gun so I didnt take the offers. I hope that helps a little..

    Photos please. Amount of original finish? Grip condition, etc...

    Pythons have been doing VERY well since Colt quit producing them...
