Information Please for this stock

I have a stock that I picked-up today and would like to see if anyone can give me any information about it. I know very little about it. I do know that it appears that it has never been matted with the rest of the gun, or if it has it was not for very long. I appears to be for a Mini-14.

Please help with any information. If it is valuable I may post it for sale or I may just keep it for a Mini-14 when I buy one.

    It might not be for the Mini 14? The photos are so small it's hard to really tell, though. It resembles commercially made stocks that were on the market years ago, made for the M1 carbine. The way that the metal shoulder support folded under the stock was quite distinctive. I don't recall if the same type of stocks were made and sold for the Mini, which would have been years latter then the carbine stocks.

    Looks like one of the old under-folders from National Ordnance. They made these stocks for the Mini 14, the M1 carbine and the Ruger 10-22.

    If I remember right they sold brand new for about $60 and could be purchased from advertisements in many gun magazines. Are you 100% sure that stock fits the Mini-14?

    No. A friend of mine has a Mini 14 & we held it up to it and it looked like it would fit. I will have him take his out of the stock and see if it will mount in this new to me stock.

    There is no difference value between the various models; a M1 carbine stock is worth the same as a Mini-14. These were extremely popular during the late 1970s and well into the early 1990s. The 1994 Crime Bill put an end to these since many of the guns that would fit the stocks became "instant assault weapons" once you added the folder with a pistol grip. Your stock looks like it is nice quality walnut, which makes me think it is an early example.

    Definitely looks like an M1carbine stock. Mini-14 stocks are totally flat on top at the rear receiver end. My Mini-14 has a side folding stock. I didn't know that underfolders were made for the Mini. Good to know. Nice looking wood too[;)]

    I beleive it is a mini 14 stock.. Beyond that I have no answers. but I can say that you dont see that good quality of walnut often these days, even on relatively expensive factory hunting rifles.


    so, from that detail alone I think it would be worth bit of money, considering factory folding ruger stocks are bringing 250-500+ somewhere in the middle might be a good place to start..

    Its a beautiful stock IMHO.

    What it fits may not affect the value, but not being sure won't help the bidding process any. Find out for sure and then list it on the auction side with a min. bid acceptable to you and then see where it runs. Good luck.

    I now know that it is not 30 carbine. I have a 30 carbine Enforcer and it does not fit.
    It will be later this afternoon before I can try my friends Mini 14. If it fits I will take a photo for reference when/if I list it for sale.
