RUSSIAN SKS BRING BACK

There is a Russian SKS for sale locally that has bring back papers from 1968. Considering it's use, it appears tobe in good condition and fully functional. The owner is taking offers...what would be a good bottom dollar I should offer start at??

    I don't know if being russian rather than chinese will bring a premium from VN collectors or not. Here are some auctions for bring backs:

    VN bring backs are a difficult market to read. Prices have been all over the place, with some beat up Chicom SKS's selling for $500-600. I can't recall seeing Russians for sale. Lately, demand & prices have dropped, probably because some of the high prices realized have brought many out of the attic.

    In your case, I'd only offer what any Russian SKS by itself is worth, based on condition (original or refinished, % of finish remaining, markings, wood type, bore condition, wood condition, etc), with the documentation just something that might help a resale.

    Mooned...this is not a good market in which to sell weapons, as you probably know which makes me wonder if the guy is serious in selling the gun or is he just "..taking offers?" Having asked the question, if he is serious, and if the SKS is in the "good" condition that you mention (photos would be great), and if it is from Tula, and the papers match the weapon, in today's market it could bring as much as $1k,+or-. Having capture papers is always going to make the weapon more valuable than not having them and always add a premium. Also know that Russian SKSs' bring a premium over the run of the mill Chinese, so I would "bottom $" an offer of $600 knowing that I could go as high (again, without seeing the weapon) as $900 or so.     Thanks all for the replies. The gun is definately for sale, not just taking offers. I was simply looking for a ballpark to start bartering at.
