    Looking for some info on this shotgun. It belongs to a friend and It is for sale on GB right now. Hes not sure what he has so im lookng to the experts here for some help. Its a Fox 16g with extractors,28" barrels,serial# 359xxx.

    Few questions I have is;

    1)how do i determine what choke the barrels are?

    2)Did this shotgun come with buttpad(Redfield) or is the one shown aftermarket?

    3)what year would this shotgn have been made?

    The butt pad has been added.. Its probably modified and full.. Take a dime and try to fit in in the end of the barrel if it wont go in you have a full choke . .If it will then you have either a modified or cylinder choked barrel ..

    Dime trick is no good on a 16ga. Works well on a 12ga.

    Full/Modified is probable. Left barrel (rear trigger)will be the tighter choke. The gun will pattern very tightly with modern plastic shells.

    Build date is unimportant as this is a modern (post 1898) firearm.

    Pad is not original to the gun and reduces the value to a collector. Still a fine shooter, though a bit on the heavy side for my tastes.

    In addition to Nord's comments it's a '23-'24 gun. The BTFE is a replacement, and the gun came with 2-9/16" chambers.
