Anyone own/shoot a Kel-Tec SU 16-C rifle?

Decided I liked the price point and folding stock option, then started looking for one, and found that every online gunseller I can find lists it as "out of stock", and there hasn't been one listed on Gunbroker since late last year. Anyone own/fire one? Thoughts on this VS other folding-stock option guns like Ruger Mini-14? Not looking for the expense of an AR-15 style rifle with folding stock, just a compact, 223 shooter without going down to a pistol-style gun.

I do not own one but I have fired a couple. I have also fired the pistol version of this gun. I liked firing it. One of the two models I fired had the stock folding stock. I found it a bit flimsy. The other one had an aftermarket stock, and it was better shooting but heavier. I thought about purchasing one with the folding stock to keep in the truck. I have a Kel-Tec pistol and think their products are a good value.
I would only recommend the pistol version (PLR-16) of their .223 as a novelty item. I don't see any practical use for it. To fire it I would have the strap around my shoulder and push out to stabilize the pistol. Just a weird feeling.0 -
Be aware that some of these KelTecs will only shoot regular brass cased ammo with non-military primers. The Wolf and other Russian ammo has very hard primers and this results in misfires due to "light primer strikes". If you are using USA made ammo, they function fine. Decent accuracy but by no means a "tack driver".

Kel Tec is notorious for production issues.
They'll do a run of guns, then not do another one for a couple years.
That probably explains the shortages.
IIWY, I'd just keep looking for one on the auction site. One ought to turn up eventually.0 -
I have the Kel-Tec SU 16 without the "C". It was an earlier version that folds differently. It is partial to polymer mags like Orlite or Thermold. Shoots about 2-3 MOA. These are not tac drivers, just reasonably accurate rifles .... a good car gun.
