Another Model 94 question

Duck Head
My friends 94 has a sloppy trigger. Meaning, whether cocked or half cocked or with the hammer down the trigger itself will flop fore and aft like a 2 stage trigger without a return spring.When you take up the slack it is crisp and light but we don't like that slop. I have no experience with 94's and wonder if this is normal. It was made in late '67 or early '68 by the ser#.

    The Post-1963 manufactured Model 94s are known for being sloppy (loose tolerances), and what you are seeing is unfortunately "normal".

    Yeah I know. I'm disappointed in Winchester's quality control of those days. My Dad bought a Model 70 of that same vintage and it's fine though.

    Mike... those a damn near fighting words[}:)]

    The better choice is a pre-war Model 94, but as a minimum, any pre-64 Winchester 94 will be a big improvement.
