Win 70 250-300 Supergrade

Can anyone tell me what a Supergrade is compared to a normal gun. It is a 1949 model.

How does being a Supergrade effect the value?

oops..that would be a 250-3000 (but I'm sure you figured that out)

It is not only the Super Grade that increases the value but the caliber. A 1949 Super Grade in .250-3000 is worth far more than the very same rifle in 30-06 or .270 simply because there are so many fewer of them. Of course then condition comes into play also.

Yes, but the super grade just doubles it.

Better grade of wood

Higher polish metal finish

Bottom of floor plate says "Supergrade"

ok...thanks. I understand the Supergrade makes it highly valueable.

But what exactly makes it a Supergrade? Better tooling? Nicer stock? Trigger work? Better rifeling?

Any information on the Supergrade package would be great. Thanks.

I'd add cheek piece and inletted Super Grade sling studs to what tsr1965 wrote.

Pistol Grip cap. Black molded forestock tip.Front sight bead is different. ("With or without" Cheekpiece). 250-3000 caliber was dropped from Standard Super Grade chamberings in 1950. Was still available for as a special order at an extra charge.

here is a super grade.

Here is a standard grade.

Standard grades dont have a cheek piece, the checkering on the supergrade wraps clear under on the forearm and over at the grip. The floorplate says "supergrade". There's a grip cap on the pistol grip of the supergrade, inletted swvel studs, forend piece,,,just like everyone said. Caveat: there are alot of standard grade guns that have been switched out with a supergrade stock and floorplate, On most of them there is now way to tell as the metal was not always marked for a supergrade. The giveaway is the front sight, the supergrade sight is a full brass blade. (unless they switched that out also)

Here is what a supergrade front sight should look like, all brass blade.

Edit:The 103-c was also used like drl50 said. I will try and get a photo.

The Redfield front sight was more prevalent, but from 1942-1950 they also used their own Winchester " No. 103-C" high gold bead sight. Your rifle being made in 1949, it could have either. The Redfield is .360 high and the 103-C is .310.
