    Not sure, but why does it matter? Burris and Leupold build (most) of their scopes in the US, but every single manufacturer except Schmidt and Bender out sources many components.

    i'm not sure it does matter on the monarch but it SURE DOES on a simmons aetec.i have one of the older aetecs that was made in the phillipines(12-15 yrs .old)that is still a good scope.i ordered a couple of the new aetecs (made in china)that are JUNK.

    A friend is a big Nikon Monarch fan and all his scopes says Made in the Philippines. It only matters if it does not meet the quality control standards/specs. Having said that, as I thumb through my Natchez catalog, they have tons of Nikons marked as refurbs. Why?

    Got it, and I do see your point, I avoid optics made in China as well. Unfortunately almost everything else in the world is made there too.
