Krupp is maker of steel Suhl is most likely the city of Maker of the fire-arm in question. Jmman Meffert is most likely the Makerof the firearm Flusstahl is German for fire-arm steel. -Krupp Issen is the steel maker address. Nitro is proof mark for smokeless powder. Hope this helps I cant tell you much more without knowing a clearer question on your part. 0 -

Here is the content (shortened):
the firm was founded in 1939
He produced a lot of very good hunting and sporting guns and revolvers
He said about himself:" hunting guns which are equal to the best English guns".
He has a lot of patents.
Until to the 30 -s. he has produced more then 60.000 guns and he has introduced the light metal in gun manufacturing- for example his Hubertus-drilling with a system case of Duraluminium (produced from D?rener Metallwerke ( metal works)), hardened at the surface, the barrel material was "Krupp-Stahl"(steel") - the proof results of the proof instituion were excellent.The weight reduction was formidable.A Aluminium- 4 -barrel gun had now a weight of 3 kg - a hunter's dream.
The place of business of this firm was in the middle of the town Suhl.He purchased the factory "Gewehrfabrik Babette Stahl" probably in 1901.
The latest owners -Charlotte and Georg Meffert -left from the G.D.R. in October 1959. The factory became under"public proberty "in January 1960 and was rebuilt to a manufacturing cooperative with only 18 (from former 200 ) employees. The mean age of these was nearly 70.On 24.4.1972 this cooperative was rebuilt to VEB (this means :public proberty firm) "Hubertus".
It doesn't exist now.
A lot of certificates, documents get lost or were destroyed .
Only a few catalogues , patents and a lot of fine guns ( first of all in overseas) did survived these years.
Meffert: "Immanuel Meffert" in Suhl/Thuringia founded in 1839 (brand "Hubertus").
The factory Meffert was the first enterprise or one of the first enterprises, which manufactured field guns (drillings, o/u shotguns, o/u shotgun rifles, four barreled guns) with breech or breech block from light metal for example.
After WWII the factory worked some years more and it became a member of "PGH des Buechsemacherhandwerks- Hubertus" a second association of handcraft gunmaker in Suhl. This handcraft association became part of the VEB Fahrzeug-und Jagdwaffenwerk in 1976. ("VEB" means peoples factory)

I cann't see the chamber lenght marked by the proofing so assume it is 2 9/16". do not shoot with standard 2 3/4" ammo. 0 -
Since the gun is a 16 gauge, and European, it almost certainly has 65mm chamber length. 2-3/4 inch (70mm) shells should not be used in it.

The widely popular myth that shooting longer shells in a shorter chamber raises the pressure has been put to rest sometime ago. I'm surprised to see this repeated so often here. 0 -
Interesting, MP. Who's the source?
It is a fact that the more modern plastic cases are not as thick as the old paper cases which should cause less obstruction at the chamber mouth.
Another old well-known fact which may be a misconception is that high brass shells developed more pressure than low brass shells.Years ago I read that the low brass shells had a higher peak pressure than the high brass shells. Couldn't even make a swag as to the origin of that statement.
Note: lo-brass=light field loads; hi-brass=duck etc. heavy loads.

The problem Barzilla and others shells of that vintage and even some today for some archaic reason the first number is DRAMS equivalent in Black powder IMHO a purely meaningless number the second number is the weight of shot . I dont load Shot Shells but in rifles and pistols if the weight of the bullet goes up the powder charge need to go down to keep preassure in the safe Zone. . You can also change pressure Spikes by the speed of the burn rate of the powder even if the vrlocity is exactly the same. 0
