Antique Guns
Heres the deal.
My dad whom is 10 hours away, just had his brother pass away, and has alot of old antique weapons in very good condition that were left to him to get rid of, however he does not have access to the internet. He wants me to auction them off on the internet, either this site and no where else. My grandmother thats down there with him owns a Gunsmith license, how would I go about posting these, and is that all you need to ship firearms is a Gunsmith license?

1. you cannot sell guns-antique or otherwise on ebay-they have a no gun policy,
2. you can legally sell antique firearms without a license--if they are truly antiques you can send them directly to the winner if you desire-totally legal in most area's of the country--if you don't feel comfortable doing that then send them to the winners FFL of choice.
3. post them on the auction side and then tell folks on the forum side-many will bid.
4. you will at the minimum need pics of the guns or you will have a very hard time selling them.
5. if they were family heirlooms, are you sure you want to sell them? once they are gone, they are gone forever.0 -
by antique you had better mean made before 1899, otherwise you run the risk of a visit from the ATF.
on the gunbroker home page, up top there is listed "new sellers", click on that, everything is explained there.

Oh 1899, I thought 50+ years makes an item antique, my mistake. Ill get a list together of what will be for auction (something along the lines of 25 guns im told), there are some very old WWI and WWII along with Vietnam weapons. They aren't really family heirlooms, my uncle was a locksmith, and old people would usually pay him with guns if he got a safe open for him, plus he served in Vietnam, so hes always had a love for guns, however my family down there is in a tight spot and forced to sale the guns, so them are the first things to go since it is up to my father now. 0 -
50 years or older make a firearm a Curio and Relic, which are still firearms and still must be transferred to an FFL: Either by a dealer or they can be sold directly a licensed collector. 0 -
First of all, welcome to gunbroker. This is the place to get help selling your families guns.
When you can, take the best, in-focus, up-close pictures that you can. They'll make the difference in both getting info from folks here and then getting people to bid on them later.
Read the instructions on the auction side as suggested then come back here with your questions.
There are 3 or 4 people on this site who like guns and then a couple more who know a lot about them and all 6 like to answer questions.

just to note; there is no sutch thing as "a Gunsmith license", she either has a ffl (01) or she doen't. 0
