beretta 70s

The slide on these guns stays open when the last shot is fired, and it is tricky to get the clip out after that. Does anyone know if the clip can be modified to let the slide close when the last shot is fired? Some of the real old Beretta's could be modified like that. Thanks

    does this particular model lock the slide back when last bullet fired.

    if it is suppose to, any thought why the slide would not lock back

    I can't speak for the Beretta model 70 because I don't own one BUT I have a number of semi auto pistols from many different makers . Most all of them have a magazine follower or part of the follower that trips the slide hold back lever on a 1911 this is called a slide stop pin . The thing to remember is The slide must travel all the way back "full cycle" after the last cartridge is fired three major things can prevent the slide going all the way back #1 the pistol shooter is not holding the pistol rigid enough Commonly called "limp wrist" . A 230 pound 5'8' tall weight lifter can function a pistol but a slightly built 5'2" women will not #2 the load is too light for the pistol shooting 22 standard velocity in a pistol that has a recoil spring designed for High velocity ammo and #3 someone installed a recoil buffer[:(!][V] in the pistol limiting the rearward travel of the slide. I would first try with an empty magazine installed in the pistol with the slide closed pull smartly on the slide all the way to the rear . DOES THE SLIDE NOW LOCK OPEN[?]If so then you have one of the three noted problems . If the slide does not lock back then a call to Beretta and it's service dept to ask them the question is your pistol designed to lock back is in order. Hope this helps PERRY SHOOTER

    I have owned a 22 and a 32 and a 380. The slid would not stay open on the 22. The 32 and 380 were OK.

    A buddy of mine has a 70s. The slide does not lock back after the last round.

    I have a vintage 70s that is in 98% condition. It doesn't have an open locking slide either. Great little guns, though, very accurate and reliable. Kind of hard to find spare magazines for these.
