Remington 700 .308 heavy barrel

Ok I've been searching on the internet for weeks trying to find a heavy barrel for my Remington 700 .308. Does anyone have any links to websites, Im looking for just the barrel, and the normal round barrel none of this crazy triangular or flutted/ported barrels that seem to be popular these days.

    E R Shaw,Midway USA, and Brownell's all sell barrels. Usually some in SGN or Gundigest. You didn't indicate whether new,new take off, or used.

    Thanks Ill check them out, I know ive checked out a couple of those sites but ill check again. I am definitly looking for a new barrel,

    lots of good precision barrels Kreiger (my favorite) hart, douglas, shilin, lilja. McMillian. a lot depends on what you are looking for as an end result and how much you are willing to pay. Remember that even if you buy a threaded and chambered barrel you have to have it headspaced.

    As you have been guided to, there are many sources of good barrels. The key is the installation. Even a factory take off will have to be indexed, and headspaced properly. If you don't have the knowledge or means to do this, and are going to hire it out, it is worth the extra $$ going for a Hart, Shilen, or Douglas barrel.


    Just wanted to make sure you knew this.

    You can send your reciever to most of the above mentioned barrel makers to have one installed. Or find a good local rifle smith as I did to have a Douglas barrel put on. Mine is a one holer wiith my loads.
