1942 Winchester Model 70 - Need Pricing Help
I got broken into on 1/20 and all of my guns were stolen. I'm trying to track down the replacement price and hope someone on this forum can help.
The first gun was a 1942 Winchester Model 70, 30-06. The gun was in great shape and had a custom wood stalk and Luepold scope. Been in my family since 1942 so I'm rather upset it's gone.
The other gun I'm struggling to price out is a 2005 Remington Model 700, .300 WSM. It was the LSS model with the stainless steel barrel and gray laminate stock. Can't find it on Remington's site anymore.
I'd really appreciate anything you can offer. Thanks!

Hello if you go on the auction side of gunbroker and do a SMART SEARCH look ar model 70's that have been sold not the ones with zero bids and you will get an Idea of what a factory one would be worth However if it has a custom stock unless it is by a famous maker of bygone years it will be worth LESS then a factory stock. You Also should be able to find some Remingtons like yours that have sold. 0 -
A custom stock and a leupold mounted on a pre war model 70(drilled) drove the value down pretty good. Sorry for your loss, also the fact that it was a 30.06 also decreased its value. Im afraid the sentimental value was mostly all that was left of that $500 gun. Sentimental value is something you cannot put a price on. 0 -

Do you have replacement cost insurance or FMV?
Sorry to hear of your loss, keep an eye out at local auctions, pawn shops and gun dealers. Call them all within 100 miles to advise them of what you are missing. Look in the paper and advertising pamphlets for them being listed.

There's a lesson in there for all of us, though.
Good pictures should be a must have for every gun in your collection; especially if insurance is involved.[:(]0
