Where to get finishing reamer?
So I have this PA 63 in 9X18 Makarov. It's always given me fits; it won't reliably touch off a round. I've replaced springs, polished parts, cleaned the snot out of it, it just won't work. The slide appears not to close entirely on the case.
So on a lark, I made a chamber cast. The chamber is indeed cut short. It almost looks like they used a 380 reamer on one of the 9X18 diameter barrels. And yes, before you ask, I DID slug the barrel, it most definitely is a 9X18 BARREL, with a .364" groove diameter. The chamber measures 17.8mm long... .2mm too short for the 9X18.
I dunno if it was just really shoddy worksmanship or what. I had thought I might rent or borrow a chamber finishing reamer. Given this thing headspaces on the case mouth, I guess I could in theory just trim the brass to 17.8mm but I'm not much a fan of trimming pistol brass either. Besides which it seems to be pinching at the sides a bit, in addition to being too short. Just as I say, almost like they ran a 380 reamer into a .365 diameter barrel.
What do you think, what's the easiest way out here?
