savage 24v accuracy problem poss. solved

Ok guys so I shot my model 24v series D, this afternoon with just the iron sights. Put a target out in front about 25 yards. took four shots. No stringing. In fact shots were about an inch apart. So, maybe the base screws had bottomed-out and the base wasn't tight enough to the rib on the barrel?
