Winchester model 11 S L
looking for a new forearm. mine is cracked. also i was wanting to know what the thumb screw at the back of the receiver was for? like to have a manual for it. any idea on its worth?

Sadly, it is colossal waste of time & $$$ to try repairing a Winchester Model 1911/11. It is one of the very few pre-64 Winchesters that is not actively collected.
The thumbscrew on the rear of the receiver is the take down screw. If you unscrew it, the barrel assembly can be separated from the receiver assembly.
Most Model 1911/11s are worth less than $150, and with a broken stock, yours is worth even less than that.0 -

If it is just cracked, and not totally destroyed, you can fix it with some good epoxy. I've fixed many cracked forearms by opening up the crack, forcing epoxy into the crack and then reinforcing the inside with epoxy soaked cloth. If you do it right it is stronger than original and the crack should just about disappear. 0 -

You are welcome, and I am sorry that the news was rather grim.
If you are interested, run a search on the "Ask The Experts" forum, you will find a good number of discussions concerning the Model 1911... most Winchester collectors consider it the "Lemon" of all Winchester models.0
