    Even if you find another Armi San Marco set of grips you will probably have to have them fitted.

    That is the boon of true SAA copies, the grips are actually finished on the grip frame as are the Colts, so no two are alike.

    OK, I'll buy that. Here is a question then.

    The grip frame is blackened brass. Looks like blued steel but it's brass.

    If I find some grips that are close, and polish them to fit, I will undoubtedly scratch or otherwise remove some of the black finish from the grip frame. Is there any way to re-blacken it?

    What grips would be "close?" Colt SAA?

    In grip selection, seems to me it would be relatively easy to shape smooth grips, but what about if they are checkered or carved? Would you not lose some of the checkering or carving?
