I have a Remington 788 in 44 Mag I am trying to sell. It is in excellent condition. Thoughts on value? $500?

I have seen 2 of those at auctions in the last year. IIRC they went for about $400 to $500.

That was the rarest chambering in that rifle, if memory serves me correctly. I would say $400.00-500.00, and if minty, a couple hundred more.

Make some really good pictures, list it here on GunBroker with no reserve and you might be very surprised at how much it will bring. There are collectors who will pay a lot for that particular rifle.

Standard calibers have been going for $4-500 in used shape for a couple years now. I paid $450 for my 222 and around that for my 22-250. The 44 mag is at least going to be worth $750 and possibly around 1k if in excellent shape. The 30-30 has been selling for $6-750.
