    Weaver bases will have the ID number on them. You should be able to find the numbers off the Weaver bases that were on the rifle and translate that to the ones you want.

    Thanks! That was simple enough. It is drilled and tapped for Win. Model 70 bases.

    Cool beans!...now find the good bases you want for that rifle, and go to town. Let us know too. I was looking at a MR-7 for a custom build off the action.

    I have two MR-7's. They take Winchester 70 bases. They are, as you noted, very nice rifles. Mine are in .270 and .280 Remington and both are very accurate. There were no problems or recalls, I believe that the Winchester, Remington and Ruger were just too well entrenched for another bolt action rifle to compete. I am sure that you will like yours.

    Edit:Incidently, both of mine wear the old fixed Bausch & Lomb 4X scopes in B & L adjustable mounts.
