S&W .32 Top Break , 4th Model ?

Hello Experts,
I am in the process of cataloging all of my guns with as much info as I can get for my son one day when they are his. This is the last one and has proven to be the hardest. I posted over on the smith-wesson forum and was told it is a 4th model and that those ended production in 1909 and that it appeared to have been re-blued at some point.All of this sounds perfectly reasonable but was hoping someone here might have more information on it. Serial # 2485xx I am specifically interested in the exact model and year it was produced. Thanks for any help you may be able to provide.

  Well the guys over on the S&W forum probably gave you the best info--other than a factory letter from S&W. If you intend on lettering it I would not waste a ton of time waiting to do it as the historian there Roy Jinks isn't getting any younger-who knows who will take his place. The 4th Model was made between 1883-1909 with the serial range from 43,406 to 282,999 so yours is a later model but if you give the full serial number there should be someone who can give you a better idea of the date--factory letter will be the best.
  The "exact" model is just that-.32 Double Action Fourth Model.
  Sadly whomever reblued it didn't do a great job. If you are looking to sell it you can probably expect between $150 to $200 since it has been reblued and not by S&W.

  I am really not interested in lettering it or selling it, the more I find out about it the more I am of the impression it was not my Grandfathers but rather a cheap revolver my Dad bought after he got out of the Navy (Korean War Era) the exact SN# is 248546. The ejector ring is well worn and my dad really never shot his guns to just shoot them so with everything I have found out it is leading me to believe that its just something he picked up, maybe it was just my impression over the years that it was old so it must be my Grandfathers. He was too cheap to have one re-blued! But nonetheless its part of the collection and I have a strict policy on selling guns, I don't do it. So any info is greatly appreciated. Damn you ever wish you could just ask a question after someones gone. Oh well.

  10-4 on that, this is a little off topic but, my son is 3, we found out the wife was pregnant 6 weeks after my dad died after 4 years of trying. I swear its him! Payback is a ..... well you know! I want to ask what did I ever do to you? But I am pretty sure I know the answer to that! Have a good evening Gentlemen.
