M16 parts

well, the spring catalog arrived and i had to order one of these, for nostalgia.

now, its been over 15 yrs since i detail stripped one of these, but it seems like there's a couple parts missing from the trigger group assembly. i know the disconnect is missing, but shouldn't there be another flat jigsaw puzzle piece part as well? I looked at m16 parts available on the internet and i don't see the part i think is missing. has my memory gotten THAT bad, or is something missing?

    Sportsman guide is selling all the parts for Vietman era M16 parts kits everything but the receiver. I was wondering if I could get a new ar 15 receiver and build a semi auto version will the parts fit and is it legal.

    You are probably talking about the sear, and it looks to be in the picture on their site.

    I take that back, I found a way to zoom and what I thought was the sear wasn't. So no, it doesn't seem to be shown. My guess is it just missed the picture but will be there. No one sells trigger groups without it.

    I seriously doubt even Sportsman's guide could sell an M16 Sear in a parts kit for under $ 700.00.[:)]

    Contrary to popular belief. Full auto sears are not expensive.
    You can find them online at respected gun parts stores ,15 to 25 bucks.
    Some people ask lots of money for them. auctions , private adds etc

    I would have bought one of those kits if stupid GOVT regulations hadn't required them to cut the original PERFECTLY good barrel.

    YOU can NOT beat that price though.

    Yes, the sear is there. the disconnect (or lock lever) is not pictured.

    The rifles are imported. It's like some AK47's . The GOVT make them cut up the receiver and or barrel before they are allowed to be imported. They still shoot the same, complete IDIOCY.

    Several years back back a new regulation went into force which severely limited the importation of barrels for firearms like machine guns or anything that could be classified as a so called assault weapon. Even though the rifles in this advertisement were produced in the USA, when they were cut up for parts they were considered to be imported kits and the barrels, along with the receivers, had to go.
