I personally would go with a Holland brake.

    DeBoer,

I have tested and put on hundreds, if not a couple of thousand muzzle brakes in the last few years.

The JP 'tank' brake or 'howitzer' brake is one of the most efficient brakes on the market today, bar none. The drawback is the side blast from high pressure gases. But since all brakes and shooters have to contend with the same problem this is not a minus against it alone. If you can get by the looks (and I don't find it as offensive as some others on the market), I wouldn't hesitate to run with it on high pressure cartridges. All of the others on the market are 'also-ran' brakes and do just about the same thing for varying prices.

There are a couple of exceptions:

The Badger Ordnance Thruster or FTE brakes are superb and efficient. I recommend them above any except the JP.

The Vias brakes are efficient and they have one that is appropriate for shooting on the ground without creating a dust signature.

The Harrell's Precision brake is just about the cheapest of the brakes that actually work. (about $30.00)

Do some more reading and check back here with any more questions.

    Best.
