Taking my rifle to Haiti
In 3 weeks I will be deploying to Haiti on a security detail with a security agency out of Florida. The employer has stated that he will be providing glocks and that no other weapons are permitted. Being the soldier I am. I don't feel comfortable with nothing but a sidearm and my knife. I have been trying to figure out a way to take my rifle with me. I have talked to the ATF, state department, as well as the Haitian Consulate in D.C. The ATF and state department told me they didn't know and that I probably wouldn't get an anaswer on this from anyone. But to figure out a way to get it their myself. Not what I want to do. We are also on a chartered flight. If that matters. Does anyone have experience in that region or have some advice they could share on how to take my rifle with me?

You can handle those Haitian punks with the Glock.
Most are armed only with machetes.
I bet the ones with rifles are bad shots.
You pull out that rifle in Haiti, your fellow employees will see it and rat you out.

Let me get this straight: You've been specifically told by your employer that you can NOT bring any other weapons, which should have been the end of it. Still, in blatant defiance of your employer's rules, you've appealed to ATF, the State Dept. and the Haitian consulate, none of whom have granted you permission to pack your "Red Ryder".
So, in your desperate attempt to win someone's - anyone's - approval, you turn to the friendly folks at the Gunbroker forum?

O.K., I think this has gone far enough. The comments indicate a definite downward spiral and aren't going to be beneficial to the subject. The point has been made regarding the proper handling of the poster's question.
