    If you take some pics of it(refer to the sticky on the front page how to do it) there are several Winchester experts who will tell you all about it--Bert H. is one of them. Also include the serial number because many books and websites are incorrect on dates for the Winchesters--Bert H. has the correct info directly from the Winchester polishing room & the Cody Museum. You can also get it lettered from the Cody Museum.

    Hello Dale,

    What you are describing is a Take Down. The serial number will tell me exactly when it was maufactured. Pictures will be needed to determine precisely what you have.

    Not to hijack the thread, but I saw a '94 takedown in Wyoming about 30 years ago and the fella said "Now Lookee here, this little lever her folds down to jam in a stump for a rest!" I'll never forget that! He about crapped when I showed him what it was really for! Can't wait to see pictures of this one in 38-55!

    I will post Pics. as soon as I get my daughter over here with the camera. By the weekend the funeral is today and the temp is minus 20 and the high today is going to be plus 1. Dale
