High Standard model 75
...having difficulty cycling the second round in the 20 ga. semi-auto. The second round enters the chamber, but the bolt does not come forward completely (reliably) every time. The gun is a Sears model 75 "TED WILLIAMS" 20 ga. semi-auto (583.7500) believed to be manufactured by High Standard (M75). There is a low base/high base selector that diverts the gas pressure that drives the action. Remington Gun Club factory loads were used with the selector in the low base mode. The action is clean. Any Ideas ???

Use hotter loads. I had one of the old H-S semi-autos years ago. The gas system was "fussy".
You could also try taking it apart for a good cleaning. Seeing that it's at least 25 years old, ( H-S went belly up in 1984 ). Maybe that's what it needs, specially the innards of the gas system.0
