CZ 550 varmint 308
Has anyone shot one of these rifles,just wanted to see how accurate they are,been looking at a savage 308,but i saw one of these and liked it....

I have a few CZ 550s and their other guns, like them very much. I had a CZ Varmint model with kevlar stock in 308 and it shot fine, but I had two issues.
The stock was very short. An +16" LOP works best for me, I know that's long so have come to accept the usual 13.5" or so but the CZ was about a 12" LOP. Very cramped. And the trigger on the CZ 550, while fine on a hunting gun, is I think too sluggish on a target model. It has the single set and that's great, but having to choose between single set and sluggish regular is not something I cared to do. I wanted the regular trigger pull to be clean & crisp and the construction of the CZ trigger, while adjustable and OK, is not good enough for me for target purposes. The trigger presses a part which presses another part which presses against another part that drops the sear - a bit mushy and you can feel it a bit.
If the regular trigger can be upgraded I'd say it's a fine gun for most folks. Accuracy was generally very good, the usual under 1 MOA.0 -
I've got one, and love it. Springfield scope on it, and it will do well under 1" with match ammo, usually under 1/2" when using match ammo.....gun shoots much better than i can!
I was told by several people to get the standard stock as the laminated and synthetic were both assembled here, wood was assembled at the CZ plant overseats.

I know you inquired about the .308. However, I have a friend who has one in 22-250, with wood laminated stock.
He reloads for it, and, as I recall, it will shoot under 3/8 inch, and perhaps .250, at 100 with some of his loads. He likes it, but has remarked that it is quite heavy, at over 10 lbs, I believe.
