beretta olimpionico question
Does anybody know if the 949 Olimpionico shared a similar design with any other early Beretta .22s? I'm trying to find a magazine and wonder if there is another easier to find model I can adapt from. Thanks.

Hello as far as I know it did not share the design with any other during the time frame it was made I had one and have some pictures I think I do remember the magazine had a large wood extension on the bottom so it was flush with the bottom of the target grips. Mine also had barrel weights and the bore line set very low recoil was straight back. only thing I did not like were the sights but it was a fine pistol . You might want to try a magazine like that for a model 76P I think yours was also called a model 949 . I would take your pistol to a BIG gun show and check out the dealers that sell grip and clips /magazines 0 -
Thank you. I see what you mean about the possibility of using a 76 magazine. I picked up the gun for just under a 100 dollars and yes, it has issues but until I get a magazine in it there's not much I can do. thanks again 0 -
Is it a Long Rifle or Short?
If LR, the magazine for the M948 "Plinker" on the 1934 action might do. If Short, I don't know.
For example, I once had a Walther Olympia and found that a PP .22 LR magazine worked perfectly with the floorplate narrowed to fit up in the extension grips. My neighbor the gunsmith make a little walnut base for it like factory.0 -
With thanks to both hawk carse and perry shooter I will look into both your suggestions. The good news is that I bought this gun which was sold as a project gun with a locked slide and bore condition unknown as it turns out all I had to do was take off the grips which for some reason released the slide and as it turns out the bore was pretty good and it fired and extracted fine I think one of the grip screws interfered with the internals in some way as they did not look correct. 0
