Advise on Olympic M16/9mm conversion
I have an Olympic Arms M16 Mod. ZX 16 A1 (auto) bought in late '80s, yes its reg! and one of their 9mm conversion units (complete upper etc. w/11 3/4" bbl.) using the sten mags. An accurate and fun shooter, but adapter and sten mags always problematic, even had some drop out when shooting! Is there anything available that uses a different mag adapter and mags that will work with this conversion? I've heard about things using uzi mags which I think would be far more appropriate for this rate of fire. Also, is there any place to get new stronger mag springs for the sten mags? If this isn't the forum for this, please guide me to the proper place. There gotta be sumptin' better than this 'rattle' block and sten mags. This is such a sweet shooter when all works.

The only other "mag" that I am aware of that works with the OA system using a standard lower is to weld a mag block onto each Sten mag.
OA sells and has pics of them on their site. The Sten mag has a sheet metal box welded to the back of the mag. The mag then uses the standard mag release.
OA does make a couple of other systems for mags but they require a different lower so that will not work for you.
If you want to go to the Colt style upper you could do that too. There are several different styles of those using several different styles of mags. You would not be able to use your OA upper for this system. The other system will drop onto your lower though.0
