American Browning

I have a question about An A5 browning.I think it is an american browning.Serial# is on the side of the receiver on the left side #is c5447 this # is also on the bottom of the barrel visable when it is removed from the receiver.looking at the browning site does nothing for me.what I am wondering is what barrels can I use on this gun? I seem to recall something about only american browning and rem mod 11 fitting. does this sound right? also can someone tell me when this thing was made?Thanks for any help Al

    I have a Browning A5 made by Remington during WW2 known as the "American Browning". It has a full choke barrel and would like to find a modified. Will a Remington model 11 barrel exchange with a Remington made American Browning? See a numer of the model 11 for sale here on Gun Broker. Thanks

    As far as I know, it is a Model 11, except for the markings. With the German invasion and occupation of Belgium between 1940 & 44, Browning was up the creek without a paddle. So they had Remington manufacture their Model 11's with Browning markings. I believe this was actually immediately after the end of the war though, in the mid 40's, before they could get their hands on the FN made guns.
